Caroline stirs in front of me, reawakening my partially hard cock still buried inside her. I squeeze her gently. “You okay?”

She nods and rolls to her side, and my dick slips out of her. We both groan and laugh.

We certainly could have worked up an appetite, though I ate enough that I’m still good. I chuckle and press a kiss to her temple. “Want to jump in the shower, and I’ll go reheat more of the curry if you liked it?”

I slide from the bed and point toward the door to the bathroom. “There are clean towels in the cabinet to the left of the sink. Let me know if you need anything.”

The smile she gives me as she stretches and snuggles deeper under the covers has my cock rising to full attention.

There’s a fifty-fifty chance she’s going to fall back asleep, but I have no problem with that. That woman can stay in my bed as long as she wants.

I grab a pair of boxers from the drawer and step into them before I make my way to the kitchen. The water kicks on in the bathroom. She must have decided to get up. I chuckle as I wash my hands and then make her a new plate and pop it in the microwave.

She did well tonight. I can be a little demanding, and I wasn’t sure she’d be up for it outside the atmosphere of the party.

I’m so fucking thrilled she is.

There’s just something about Caroline that grabs me deep in my soul and won’t release me. What happened at the party only solidified that she’s something special. I don’t want to do anything to scare her or push her away. Not when I finally have her.

I grab a bottle of water, the plate from the microwave, and climb onto a stool to wait for her.

The water shuts off.

Huh.

That might be the quickest shower I’ve ever seen a woman take in my entire life. She must really be hungry. I chuckle to myself. I guess she liked the curry.

She appears in the end of the hallway in one of my T-shirts that’s so big, it hits her at the knee. She shrugs. “I hope you don’t mind. I don’t really have clothes.”

My laugh booms around the room, and I slide from the stool to make my way over to her and pull her into my arms. I kiss her gently and brush my thumb over her swollen lips. “I don’t mind at all. You can take anything you want from me.”

Even my heart.

I hadn’t realized how much I miss this, miss having somebody to care for, to look after, having someone here when I’m not one hundred percent, when I need someone to ground me. I’ve always been the protector—other kids growing up, playmates on the field, the dancers at the club. This thing with Storm and everything that’s happened the last few weeks has really thrown me more than I care to admit.
